After studying for a HND in Leisure Marketing and Management at Barnsley College, Darren found himself working at Sheffield Newspapers for the next 8 years of his professional career.

His time at Sheffield Newspapers started as Telephone Sales Executive for the Sheffield Weekly Gazette display department but over the next 4 years he was promoted within the company until taking the step of managing the newly formed One Stop Print Shop. This encompassed dealing with all Sheffield Newspapers print requirements as well as dealing with business to business print sales and marketing. Within this role the company was run as a separate entity from the regular Newspapers in Sheffield. It allowed Darren to learn the business and its requirements from staffing to advertising the company and its benefits.

In 2002 he was appointed Sales Director with IML Print & Marketing. Again this led Darren into dealing with both new and current customers' print needs as well as dealing with all the company's marketing requirements. In the process of working at IML a customer approached him to join up with them and in June 2005 he was appointed Marketing Manager at Barnsley Football Club. The role took Darren back to his original chosen field in the Leisure and Sporting environment. Dealing with sponsorship, sales and corporate clients it gave him the complete Sales and Marketing experience. After 2 years at BFC he returned to the print environment here at PHP when he was appointed Sales and Marketing Manager in October 2007.

On a personal note Darren is married to Julie with 3 small children, Maxim 8, Harrison 5 and Jenson 1. His time away from work is spent looking after the family and he lists cricket, football and socialising as his pastimes.
